Why We Like It
- Genuinely cold-pressed and single-filtered, not just labelled that way.
- Wood-pressed rather than solvent-extracted, so nothing has been through hexane, and the lab confirms no residue.
- The July 2025 report covers what matters for groundnut oil: argemone, aflatoxin and heavy metals, all clear.
- Independently certified glyphosate-free.
- We like that it is one ingredient with nothing to decode.

Two Brothers Groundnut Oil versus other groundnut oils
| What to compare | Purepicked | Other groundnut oils |
|---|---|---|
| Ingredient list | One ingredient, unrefined, single-filtered | May be blended, refined or bleached |
| Extraction | Wood-pressed, mechanical only | Often solvent-extracted with hexane, then refined — a step a label never has to spell out |
| Contaminant testing | Argemone absent, residual hexane absent, aflatoxin under 2 ug/kg, heavy metals under 0.1 mg/kg (Astute Labs, July 2025) | Rarely tested |
| Glyphosate | Certified glyphosate-free (The Detox Project) | Residue risk, untested |
Is It For You?
Good for
Everyday Indian cooking — tadka, sautéing and shallow frying
Those wanting a MUFA-rich, minimally processed cooking oil
Avoid if
Groundnut/peanut allergy
Buyers wanting a completely neutral, odourless cooking oil
Repeated deep-fry reuse — discard used oil rather than reusing indefinitely
How to use
Use for frying, sautéing and tadka
Swirl before use — natural sediment is normal in single-filtered oil
May turn cloudy/semi-solid in cold weather; clears at room temperature
Discard oil once it darkens or foams after repeated frying
What to look for in Cooking Oil?
Look for cold-pressed, wood-pressed or ghani on the pack. Refined oils are usually hexane-extracted, and that step is never declared.
The ingredient list should read as one oil. Blends are legal but dilute what you are paying for.
Unrefined oil carries its own colour and smell. A pale, odourless oil has been bleached and deodorised.
Buy a size you will finish in a few months. Unrefined oil oxidises faster than refined.
