CLEANSingle-ingredient organic Sona Masoori.

Sona Masoori rice, milled and polished from certified organic paddy. The grain is medium-short and cooks light and separate rather than sticky, which is why it suits everyday meals, pulao and curd rice more than it suits biryani. Polishing removes the bran layer, so this is white rice by design — softer, faster-cooking and milder than the unpolished form. Each batch is steam-sterilised before packing.

Is It For You?

Good for

Everyday meals, pulao, curd rice and khichdi

Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets

Avoid if

Anyone looking for a wholegrain rice — this is milled white rice, with the bran removed

Buyers who want the fibre of red or semi-polished rice; polishing takes that layer off

Anyone managing blood sugar who has been advised toward less-refined grains

How to use
01

Rinse two to three times until the water runs mostly clear

02

Cook in excess water and drain rather than absorbing a measured amount, to lower arsenic carry-through

03

If cooking by absorption, use roughly one part rice to two parts water and rest ten minutes off the heat

What to look for in Rice?
01

Polishing strips the bran layer, which carries most of the fibre and minerals. More polish means whiter rice and less of what was in the grain.

02

Artificial shine comes from oil or talc buffing. Genuine unpolished and semi-polished rice looks matte and slightly uneven.

03

The ingredient list should read as one variety. Blending cheaper rice into a named variety is legal and common.

04

Older rice cooks firmer and separates better. Ask about milling date, not just the packing date.
