A handmade beeswax soap scented with sweet basil and enriched with aloe, made by Adivasi women's collectives in central Kerala. The beeswax comes from the same wild forest hives that supply Forest Post's honey, which is the interesting part of the supply chain — wax is the by-product of honey harvesting and would otherwise be a low-value residue, so turning it into soap raises the return on each harvest. Beeswax in soap gives a harder, longer-lasting bar and leaves a light breathable film on skin rather than stripping it. Aloe adds a soothing element that suits sensitive or sun-exposed skin. Assessed on clean-label first principles rather than FSSAI, which governs food and has no authority over cosmetics — soap in India sits under BIS and the Cosmetic Rules. One detail we are still chasing: beeswax alone cannot saponify into soap, so base oils and an alkali are present, and Forest Post has not yet published the full list.
