Real sun-dried lavender petals in a coconut oil and beeswax bar.

Reviewed by PurePicked

A handmade beeswax soap on a base of coconut oil and wild forest beeswax, studded with real sun-dried lavender petals and scented with neroli and geranium essential oils. 135g. Handmade in small batches by women in Karikkadav Village, Kerala.

The petals are not decoration — they give a light physical scrub as the bar lathers. Lavender on its own can read flat and soapy, which is why the neroli and geranium are in here putting a citrus edge on it. The base is declared, which most handmade soap does not do: coconut oil is named on the pack, and the beeswax comes from the same wild forest hives that supply the collectives' honey. No sulphates, phthalates, parabens or palm oil.

What to look for in Natural Soap?
01

Prefer true saponified soap over synthetic-detergent (syndet) bars.

02

Check it's palm-oil-free (or certified sustainable palm).

03

Look for essential oils, not 'fragrance/parfum'.

04

Avoid SLS/SLES, parabens and phthalates.

05

Natural exfoliants (grains, petals) over plastic microbeads.
